TROJAN HORSE SUMMER SCHOOL 2026
“Reversible Breathing”
August 3–9, 2026
Bengtsår, Finland
*
Dear breather, Trojan Horse is organizing the eleventh Summer School, Reversible Breathing, taking place August 3–9, 2026 on Bengtsår island, Finland!
Reversible Breathing claims the island as a site for undoing and reprogramming the rhythms of everyday life. We turn to the paradoxical, the playful and the unproductive as fertile grounds to resist the rationalization, efficiency, productivity and optimisation favoured by capital.
We propose not looking forward, neither backwards, but rather to look deeply into the space between points of meaning. It becomes a collective yet singular practice through which bodies reclaim time, attention and presence, refusing synchronisation while remaining together. How can we rehearse ways of living where individual rythms coexist, where habits, roles and outcomes are not fixed but reversible?
The natural act of breathing expands into a field for thinking and experimentation, while we experience different sensory acts and rehearse a new relation to resistance, creativity and connection. On the island we rehearse other ways of living through making, idling, repeating and sensing the camp as a laboratory for subtle acts of ethical hacking.
The Summer School welcomes 10–15 participants. Everyone interested in design, art, architecture and socially engaged cultural practices in general are warmly welcome to apply. The days will be a combination of learning sessions, workshops, recreational activities, resting and convivial moments like sauna and hikes. Part of the activities are offered by Trojan Horse and part by the participants. THSS is a place to test out your ideas, share knowledge, practice informal learning, continue nurturing your research and weave together an exciting week!
Join us for the THSS26 to rehearse inhabiting reality otherwise, and to carry these altered rhythms back into the world.
