TROJAN HORSE WINTER SCHOOL 2025
“Trans-local Social Organisms”
February 6–9, 2025
Ylläs, Finland

The Trojan Horse Winter School is a three-day gathering held at Ylläs, an arctic hill located in Northern Finland in the municipality of Kolari. This gathering arises from a desire to reflect what it means for collectives and situated practices to exist as networks across borders.

The winter school approaches collective practices as social organisms and reflects on potential trajectories, research paths and projects such organisms could take in the coming year(s).

Structured as a seminar, the Winter School blends moments of learning and reflection—such as workshops and roundtable discussions—with outdoor activities and time for rest. Members of Trojan Horse, along with invited guests, will convene to explore the most pressing political issues affecting their work in design, art, and architecture. Together, we will seek meaningful, collective ways to engage with these challenges.

How to embrace care, degrowth and sufficiency in our creative practices? Which critical tools/approaches could we develop in order to explore alternative life-styles? How can ethics be mobilised through the use of spatial/artistic/speculative practices? How to engage different publics effectively?
